EPL Round 34

The race for league supremacy might be over but that doesn’t mean there’s not an opportunity to make some money this weekend in the EPL. James Kempton is back with his weekly installment of betting capsules on every fixture. If you’re looking for more in-depth analysis tune into his podcast with Pete Nordsted. Burnley v Leicester Scratch  Pk & 2.5 goals Leicester looked dead and buried a few weeks ago but recent results for both sides force this game priced at scratch. This is a big game for the home team and nobody rolls them over at Turf Moor so at this current price I favour Burnley. Crystal Palace v Hull City Palace -0.5 and 2 goals Palace lost to a relegation threatened side last time out at home in West Brom so why not again here? Away win straight up is the way I’d play this but for minimal stakes in a game you should probably pass on. Manchester City v Aston Villa City -1.75 and 3 goals City dominated West Ham last week but still only won 2-0. Here they welcome a rejuvenated Villa side with a genuine attacking threat. The away side will more than likely find the back of the net given a shakier than usual home defence so I lean towards over on the goal line. Newcastle United v Swansea City Newcastle -0.25 and 2.25 goals The heat is on at St James’ Park and if Newcastle can’t win this game then they are in real trouble. Swansea let us down last week at Leicester so it’s a brave man who trusts them in this spot. A draw is agreeable for both sides so I will take that and lean to the unders. QPR v West Ham United QPR...

EPL Round 33

It may not be a complete slate this weekend with a few EPL sides pulling FA cup duty but that doesn’t stop James Kempton from powering through his weekly analysis.  Be sure to follow him as well for his EPL podcast among other great soccer analysis. Crystal Palace v West Bromwich Albion Palace -0.5 and 2.25 goals The team managed by the man the media are calling ‘Pardiola’ welcome back Tony Pulis as his West Brom side are starting to look nervously beneath them at the drop zone. A tentative lean to the away side as the Baggies have drawn five of eight games away to bottom half sides but given the form of the home team it would be a bet made with no real conviction. Everton v Burnley Everton -0.75 and 2.5 goals Despite some great performances by Burnley this season they continue to sit 19th in the table with just one win in their fifteen away games. I think I’d rather have a small piece of the over 2.5 goals and swerve the match market. Leicester City v Swansea City Leicester -0.25 goals and 2.5 goals Leicester have put in a string of impressive recent results and are fighting for their EPL lives whilst Swansea have, on paper, nothing to play for. The Swans are 9-7-1 overall when facing bottom half sides so the trends say there is great value going with the away team. Who are we to disagree? Stoke City v Southampton Southampton -0.25 and 2 goals Two teams that are in good form meet here but it’s those defensive qualities of both teams that I am looking at to cash us a winning bet. Even with this line set at just two goals I like the under bet...

EPL Round 32

The weekend can’t officially launch until we’ve gotten our football fix from James Kempton. As the rounds wind down the stakes still remain high for a handful of clubs.  As always Jimmy shares his thoughts on each and every game for the coming weekend. Swansea City v Everton Pk Goals 2.25 Swansea are a machine in this spot when they host bottom half sides going 6-3-0. Everton have picked up their play of late but to have this line priced at a Pk is madness. Give me the Swans. Southampton v Hull City Southampton -1 Goals 2.25 Southampton are 7-1-0 at home to bottom half placed sides. Scoring twenty two goals and conceding just one in those eight games. They play with a pace, freedom and vibrancy that should tear Hull apart. I used to be afraid of laying a full goal with the Saints but not anymore. Sunderland v Crystal Palace PK Goals 2 Pardew for Manager of the Year! Palace are 4-4-1 away to bottom half sides but those nine games have seen twenty seven goals. With a goal line set at just 2 the carefree approach Palace can take in this spot may reflect a more open game than you’d expect. Give me the overs on the goal line. Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa Tottenham -1 Goals 2.75 The return of Sherwood to Spurs and there are some players with a real point to prove to him. I expect a reaction from Spurs after that goalless draw at Burnley whilst Benteke fresh off his hat trick against QPR will trouble the home defence. Give me overs in what could be another high scoring game at the Lane. West Bromwich Albion v Leicester City WBA -0.25 Goals 2.25 Are West Brom out...

EPL Round 31 Apr03

EPL Round 31

After a week off for an international break the EPL gets back into full swing.  James Kempton is here with his thoughts on each of the weekend’s fixtures. Game capsules not enough? Listen to Jimmy’s comprehensive podcast with Pete Nordsted Arsenal v Liverpool Arsenal -0.5 Goals 2.75 The last ten total meetings of the sides have seen at least two goals so this game should be exciting for the viewer. Interestingly the home side has won just three of the last fifteen EPL meetings. I lean to the away team on this line but with the goal line set at 2.75, I have no real feeling in the totals market. Everton v Southampton Pk Goals 2.25 Southampton have conceded just six goals in fifteen games against sides in the bottom of the table. Everton are yet to win this season against teams placed in the top third of the table so even on the Pk I can’t back them here. I prefer the goal markets for value so give me some of the under 2.25 goals here as the Saints will be hard to break down. Leicester v West Ham Leicester -0.25 Goals 2.50 I can’t see how this line has Leicester as favourites given West Ham’s win last time out at home to Sunderland. Leicester are desperate but it doesn’t mean they’ll perform in this game. Give me the away team and unders as West Ham have lost just once this season in eleven meetings to bottom third of the table teams. Manchester United v Aston Villa United -1.5 Goals 2.75 United have found some form and they’ve covered this line in the last four meetings of the sides at Old Trafford.  Villa have managed just seven goals in fifteen games against top...

EPL Weekend Round-Up Mar20

EPL Weekend Round-Up

It may be March Madness and hoops paranoia here in the States but the EPL season stops for no one.  James Kempton is back with his weekly look around the EPL providing gambling angles on every fixture the card has to offer. Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion City -1.5 and 3 goals City can’t afford any more slip ups in the title race but they welcome a rejuvenated Albion under Tony Pulis. I wouldn’t want to lay more than a goal on the home team so the value on this line is with the away team and the unders. Aston Villa v Swansea City Villa -0.25 and 2.25 goals Another rejuvenated team takes to the pitch here as Villa host a Swansea side coming off of a 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool. Tim Sherwood has breathed life into this Villa side but they have won just one of seven EPL meetings with the Swans. Value is with Swansea and the over 2.25 goal line. Newcastle United v Arsenal Arsenal -0.75 and 2.5 goals Arsenal have kept three consecutive clean sheets away at St James’ Park with two 1-0 wins and a goalless draw. Arsenal should be able to control this game throughout by dominating possession against a home attack appearing toothless. Away win for me and I lean to under on the goal line as well as I expect them to win the game to nil. Southampton v Burnley Soton -1 and 2.5 goals Southampton have conceded just one goal in seven home games against bottom half opposition whilst scoring twenty at the other end. Burnley have shown this season they can score away in such spots so although I like the home win, my favoured bet is the over on the...

EPL Round 29 Mar13

EPL Round 29

It’s that time of the week…football Friday and James Kempton is back with his full card analysis for this weekend’s EPL action Crystal Palace v QPR Crystal Palace -0.75 and 2.25 goals This is Rangers’ third big London derby in the last ten days and in the previous two they have put huge efforts in that have gone unrewarded. Pardew has this Palace team performing consistently and that should be enough to get all three points. On this line though all the value is with QPR as a point would not be the end of the world for the home team. Arsenal v West Ham United Arsenal -1.25 and 2.75 goals The Gunners are doing just enough to win and cover at present whilst the Hammers are going nowhere. Arsenal will win and at set pieces, if they get any, West Ham should trouble the home backline. Give me the Gunners and overs on the goal line. Leicester City v Hull City Leicester -0.25 and 2.25 goals This is Leicester’s last stand as I feel they have to win this game to stand any chance of staying up. Hull are dreadful but eight points in their last five games have potentially saved their season. On this match line though I sense the away team can frustrate so I lean towards the away team and unders on the goal line. Sunderland v Aston Villa Sunderland -0.25 and 2 goals By kick off could this goal line be at just 1.75 goals? Sunderland have won just three of their last fourteen games at home to lower half opposition. Tentative lean, despite Terrible Tim in charge, to the away team and under 2 goals. West Bromwich Albion v Stoke City West Brom -0.25 and 2 goals The...

EPL Round 28 Mar03

EPL Round 28

The table continues to heat up as we rapidly approach the final quarter of the season.  James Kempton is back to break down all the mid week fixtures with gambling intel to help you make some money.  Also tune into the weekly EPL podcast co-hosted by James and Pete Nordsted Aston Villa v West Brom PICK & Goals 2 There’s a lot of pressure on the home team for this local derby and it’ll be a red hot atmosphere at Villa Park. I lean towards the away team on the match market as tactically Sherwood v Pulis is a mismatch of epic proportions. Hull v Sunderland  Hull -0.25 Goals 2.25 When analysing this game the old saying of “if this game was played in my back garden, I’d close the curtains” springs to mind. Another nervous match in store here and on this goal line I will take the under 2.25 goals rather than look to the match market. Southampton v C Palace Soton -0.75 Goals 2.25 All the pundits are yet again saying Southampton’s bubble has burst. The usual rubbish is being spouted but the truth is that the Saints do not concede more than one goal in these spots against Palace type opposition. Factor that in to your betting thoughts and you won’t go too far wrong but this particular match is one to swerve for me. Man City v Leicester City -1.75 Goals 3 Man City is struggling to find their form and in the second half against Liverpool on Sunday they were completely dominated at Anfield. Leicester obliged last time out at Everton for us by securing a draw but I see a two goal margin of defeat as the best they can hope for at the Etihad. Newcastle v...

EPL Round 27 Feb26

EPL Round 27

He’s back with a high level look of the weekend’s EPL fixtures; snapshot gambling analysis from the one and only James Kempton. West Ham United v Crystal Palace West Ham -0.5 and 2.25 goals Both sides will feel hard done to repeat the results they gained in London derbies last weekend. Trust Big Sam and his men on this half goal line to deliver the goods for a Hammers victory. Burnley v Swansea City Pk and 2.25 goals At this stage of the season churning out points is the name of the game for Burnley. I can’t back Swansea in these spots to win the game but they have lost just one of five away games this season to sides in the bottom half of the table. Give me the draw and I like unders on the goal line. Manchester United v Sunderland Manchester United -1.25 and 2.5 goals How will Poyet set his side up for this one? At a guess I’d say defensively! An early goal could open the flood gates but this United team has struggled to break teams down of late. I lean towards the home team on the match market and the goal markets also appear tough to figure. Newcastle United v Aston Villa Newcastle -0.5 and 2.25 goals A game between two sides in free fall and Villa will see this as an excellent opportunity to grab all three points. All the value is with the away team but it’s a brave man who backs them. Especially when Newcastle are focused on gaining a win that would all but secure their Premiership status. Stoke City v Hull City Stoke -0.5 and 2.25 goals Seven points from their last three games have lifted Hull out of the drop zone...

EPL Round 26 Feb20

EPL Round 26

EPL play resumes this weekend after the FA cup took center stage last week.  James Kempton is back to share his fixture analysis for every match.  If you’re looking for more in depth analysis check out his podcast with Pete Nordsted. Aston Villa v Stoke City Pk and Goals 2 Thank god Lambert is gone as now maybe Villa will try and at least score a goal. I’d be wary of fading Tim Sherwood in his first game as his cocky wide boy image may give his side a temporary lift but that lift will only be temporary. Overs on the goal line appeals to me given the way Villa opened up in the second half of their cup win last weekend after the half time input from Sherwood. Chelsea v Burnley Chelsea -2 and Goals 3 If you think Burnley will be scared of the Blues then think again. They’ve scored at both Manchester clubs this season and once again they will give it everything they have against a top of the table side. Give me the overs with a push being the worst case scenario that I envision. Crystal Palace v Arsenal Arsenal -0.5 and 2.5 goals Pardew was owned by Arsenal when he managed Newcastle so he’s hoping the passion of a London derby may help turn his fortunes against the Gunners.  Wenger dislikes Pardew, he isn’t in the minority! It’s a tough game to call but give me Arsenal to do just enough in a game where they need the win. Hull City v QPR Hull -0.5 and 2.25 goals Rangers have picked up recently whilst Hull’s form has been up and down to say the least. Who can seriously rely on Hull to win a game with any confidence?...

EPL Round 25 Feb10

EPL Round 25

The only thing better than a full slate of weekend fixtures in the EPL is when there are mid week matches to bet as well.  Resident EPL insider James Kempton worked double duty this week providing his thoughts as he always does on every single match Arsenal v Leicester City Arsenal -1.75 and 3 goals The home side need to bounce back after the weekend derby defeat and their is no better team to host than City to get you healthy. Arsenal will win this game against Leicester who appear to be in disarray with or without the current manager confusion and the value is with the Gunners covering the handicap line. Hull City v Aston Villa Hull City -0.25 and 2 goals Both teams managed to score against an elite team over the weekend so surely they should at least give us a push on the overs of goal line of 2? You’d think so but I can’t trust either team so I’m staying away completely! Sunderland v QPR Sunderland -0.5 and 2.25 goals Sunderland gained a great point on the road this past weekend against Swansea. Rangers showed great fight against Southampton before losing in stoppage time. That showing alone makes me want to side with QPR to get a point but with their away record I simply can’t. The loss of Charlie Austin for QPR also stops me from considering an Overs ticket Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Liverpool -0.5 and 2.75 goals Over 2.75 goals for this Liverpool side? No thanks! The under looks a strong play here and I have to be with the away team to gain at least a share of the spoils. Once Daniel Sturridge is fully fit my thoughts for Pool may change but whilst he...

EPL Round 24 Feb06

EPL Round 24

It’s another busy weekend of EPL fixtures to get those gambling juices flowing.  James Kempton is back to share his analysis and leanings on every single match.  As always you can get more from him by listening to his podcast here. Spurs v Arsenal (Arsenal -0.25 / 2.75) I really like the home team in this spot as they’ve already shown this year against Chelsea that they can rise to the big occasion. Arsenal hammering Aston Villa so emphatically on TV last week should ensure that all the value is with the home team. Aston Villa v Chelsea (Chelsea -1.25 goals 2.5) It’s a brave man who would ever lay one and a half goals on the road in the Premiership. However, how can you realistically believe Villa find the back of the net? Chelsea will get back to their winning ways here and they should cover the handicap line. Leicester City v Crystal Palace (Leicester -0.25 goals 2.25) In a relegation dogfight I’d always try and have the draw on my side. When the better side is on the receiving end of the quarter goal though then it’s a no brainer for me. Palace or no bet and this game could see some goals, much like Palace’s recent trip to Burnley. Manchester City v Hull City (Man City -2 goals 3) City need a good performance in front of the home fans following their recent wobble. Who better to host than the pitiful Tigers from Hull? Has a clubs nickname ever been in such contrast to the way their team performs on the pitch? This line should be more around the -2.5 mark so I will take the home team to cover. QPR v Southampton (Southampton -0.75 goals 2.5) So long ‘arry and...

EPL Round 23

The Super Bowl may be taking center stage here in the States but the Premiership stops for no one!. James Kempton is back with his gambling game capsules for a busy weekend highlighted by a showdown at the Etihad between the top two teams in the EPL table. Hull vs Newcastle Pick and 2.25 Until Newcastle appoint a manager you either go against them or avoid them. On the Pick line I will shade with the home team and even on an under 2.25 line I’m happy to side with limited scoring at the KC Stadium. Crystal Palace vs Everton Pick Goals 2.25 Another game where on a Pick line I’m happy to support the home team Crystal Palace. Everton will win again this season but until I see it with my eyes I cannot back them against a home team with significant momentum. Liverpool vs West Ham Liverpool -0.75 Goals 2.75 The Hammers are resilient, don’t concede many goals, and bar the really elite teams I can’t have them laying more than half a goal against any EPL team. Liverpool are not an elite side and on the goal line I particularly like the under 2.75 as I can’t see Liverpool carving the away team up at will. Manchester United vs Leicester City United -1.5 Goals 3 This game is priced so accurately that I don’t even want to try and figure it out. My only thought would be to the goal market and if you believe Leicester can prevent United from keeping a clean sheet then an overs ticket will probably cash. I’m just not sure they can… Stoke vs QPR Stoke -0.75 Goals 2.5 Twenty nine goals have been scored in QPR’s away games while Stoke have conceded 12 times at...
