1 Touch Round 3 Aug29

1 Touch Round 3

As we head into Week 3 of the EPL sides are beginning to take form.  It’s still too early to push the panic button on Manchester United (we think) while it’s premature to anoint Man City back to back champions. Diego Costa went down with a nasty hamstring injury and somehow Aston Villa has 4 points this season with only 1 shot on target.  Bring on the games and the analysis of our soccer guru James Kempton. Burnley v Manchester United United have to win…Don’t they? Who knows though after their midweek humiliation at Milton Keynes in the Capital Cup. Even I, one of LVG’s biggest supporters, cannot back them in this spot.  United don’t want to put on a show here and look to win by two or three goals, they just need a win! With the attacking threat on display for United I struggle to believe they will not find the net, can they keep a clean sheet here? Maybe but I lean towards the over 2.5 goals in a match we’re probably best to swerve. Manchester City v Stoke City have won the last six meetings of the sides at the Etihad…all to nil. Four of those fixtures were by a three goal margin which is what is obviously required here to cash your ticket. It’s a big number to give up on the heels of that dominating win over Liverpool and ahead of their match up with Arsenal (sandwich anyone?). The win is all that Pelligrini cares about but Stoke have been so poor this season I cannot trust them to keep it tight. Newcastle United v Crystal Palace Newcastle did the double over Palace last season and nothing we’ve seen so far this season makes me think they won’t...

Fav or Field Aug28

Fav or Field

Last night we attacked all 6 power conferences (yes, the AAC counts too) on Let It Ride. The choice was pretty simple for some leagues where favorites will run away and hide.  However there were 2 leagues with prohibitive favs where penciling them into the playoff/conference championship game isn’t a foregone conclusion.  Be sure to tune into Fox Sports Live every Friday throughout the season as we’ll offer plenty of gambling advice on Let It Ride to get you to the window with great regularity all fall long...

In Memorium

Before we begin the journey that is the 2014 college football season, I ask all of you to observe a moment (or 5 minutes) of silence for the season that was in 2013.  Remember bad beats are part of the game and if you can’t laugh at the past you’ll never move forward. May the gambling gods be with you in 2014 and prosperity find you at every halftime, team total, parlay, and full game wager. (Video courtesy of Bad Beat Sports)...

OTL Pod Week 1

It’s finally here!!! The start of a new college football season is less than a day away and we couldn’t be more excited…to handicap the worst college card in recent memory.  That didn’t stop us from getting fired up in an attempt to come out of the gates swinging.  Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you ask) we never broke down the entire B1G conference but I’m pretty sure that was more strategic than anything to protect Adam Kramer’s peace of mind.  In typical OTL fashion we hit on all the big games along with offering our best bets of the week…which offer outstanding fade bait. Tiger Woods fired his swing coach earlier today.  Leave it to Bovada to offer a prop for who will be named Foley’s successor.  Pretty sure everyone is pretty familiar with the man pegged as the favorite to take the job of restoring Tiger’s legacy. American Uncertainty Aug25

American Uncertainty

It happens every summer…teams the experts never gave a chance to win the World Series force their way into the fall classic discussion.  This season’s been even more unique with 2 franchises without devoid of recent post season success in firm control of their own post season destiny.  As of this morning Kansas City was actually listed as a slight favorite to win the AL Central at 5Dimes and ESPN’s playoff probability indicator gave Seattle nearly a 75% chance of getting into the postseason.  What the casual fan fails to realize with both of these clubs is the consistency of their respective pitching staff’s. The emergence of Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura to slot behind ace James Shields goes a very long way while Seattle has taken run prevention to historic lows behind their tandem of aces.  The other constant between the two teams? Bullpens that nail games down in the late innings.  Future odds indicate how improbable the crazy roller coaster ride for Seattle over the last month.  Little to say the Tigers misfortune has worked to their benefit.   Royals Mariners 21-Oct 30 60 6-Jan 30 25 24-Mar 30 50 12-May 40 40 23-Jun 20 40 14-Jul 40 25 4-Aug 40 50 11-Aug 20 30 18-Aug 12 18 25-Aug 10 18...

EPL Round 2 Aug22

EPL Round 2

There are no promises in sports gambling however we’re going to try and make one here for the season: ever Friday on this site we’ll have quick game capsules breaking down the entire slate in the EPL courtesy of James Kempton. Questions, concerns, or philosophies on handicapping the league are worth firing his way as the beautiful game gains a bigger foothold in our domestic sports landscape. Click here for all your official matchday info Aston Villa v Newcastle United Villa gained a fantastic win at Stoke last weekend and did so while keeping a clean sheet, of huge importance to the team’s overall confidence. Newcastle showed some creative spark in their season opener at home to Man City but wasn’t able to tally against the defending champions. It is a tough job though to break down the Champions back line and the Geordies should find the defense of Villa easier to unlock.  With Villa looking like a side more equipped to play away from home, I’m leaning to Newcastle here. Chelsea v Leicester City The Blues of west London should make it two wins from two when they host newly promoted Leicester this weekend. Will they cover the prohibitive handicap line?  That remains the much bigger question being listed as 2 goal favorites in some locales. The fighting spirit of Leicester was displayed on opening day as they drew two apiece at home to Everton. However, Chelsea are a different attacking threat to that of the men from Goodison so I take Chelsea to win and cover here. Jose Mourinho will be wanting his men to put a show on in their league home opener. Interested in the lower levels of English soccer? Click here for stat packs to help your handicapping Crystal...

OTL Podcast

It’s the holy grail of college football conferences…the Sun Belt!!! No, just kidding, we tackled the SEC with gusto and enthusiasm of 10 5* recruits.  Unfortunately we couldn’t get to all 14 teams in the league with adequate depth (or at all) so inevitably there will be a handful of you angry certain programs got no love.  There was no debate on the podcast for who will come out of the west victorious but as much for the natural contrarian in me there was no shot I could peg the Tide conference champs.  Sit down, grab an adult beverage, and let the boys and I break it all down for you. Playoffs?! Aug19

Playoffs?!

Bovada released a full list of yes/no playoff odds for all 32 NFL teams earlier today.  We know the Not For Long league is one of parity where sure fire success can turn to heartbreak in just one snap.  Only 8 teams on the betting board are actually listed as favorites to get to the postseason highlighted by last year’s AFC championship game combatants the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots at 1-5.  The biggest longshot on the board?  None other than the Gus Bradley led Jacksonville Jaguars at 8-1 although I’d contend their prospects for making the postseason are better than those of the dysfunctional Raiders. Futures

With less than 2 weeks until kickoff most of the futures prices have long since settled in to a temporary resting spot.  There are still opportunities to shop around town for good numbers depending on which team you believe can factor prominently into the national championship race.  Unlike years past where the best (ok not best but most deserving) 2 teams met for college football’s greatest prize, this year value could come in a number of different forms when it comes to long term investments.  Take a snapshot of this board now because in a matter of weeks there’s a good chance it’s been flipped upside down. 2015 COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT&T STADIUM– ARLINGTON, TX MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2015  (All Prices courtesy of the LVH) FLORIDA ST 3OREGON 7ALABAMA 5AUBURN 12LSU 20OKLAHOMA 8UCLA 10OHIO ST 12BAYLOR 25MICHIGAN ST 25WISCONSIN 35STANFORD 50ARIZONA ST 100MISSOURI 100SOUTH CAROLINA 30OKLAHOMA ST 200OLE MISS 50GEORGIA 18WASHINGTON 75USC 30IOWA 100TEXAS A&M 100NOTRE DAME 100CLEMSON 75ARIZONA 200KANSAS ST 100TEXAS 100BYU 300UTAH ST 500FLORIDA 60BOISE ST 500MISSISSIPPI ST 100TENNESSEE 200MIAMI FL 200NORTH CAROLINA 100NEBRASKA 100VIRGINIA TECH 200MICHIGAN 75GEORGIA TECH 500OREGON ST 500TCU 100TEXAS TECH 300PITTSBURGH 1000WASHINGTON ST 1000UTAH 1000DUKE 1000LOUISVILLE 300NORTHWESTERN 200VANDERBILT 1000FIELD...
