This pod needs no introductions…and quite frankly putting this week’s edition into words wouldn’t do it justice. Apparently Bud Elliot was afraid to come on and break down FSU/Miami so the 4 horsemen turned into a trio of idiots. Widget not appearing? Every game won’t be included but the statistical anomalies and finals will be here in all their blazing glory Bowling Green @ Akron Maction kicked off in fashion with an Akron vs Bowling Green game that was hard on the eyes. The two teams combined to run 175 plays but only generate 37 points in ugly conditions. Akron finished the game with 5 turnovers to Bowling Green’s 1, negating the Zips +11 advantage in total yards. Buffalo @ Ohio Ohio completely smothered Buffalo, holding the Bulls to 7 first downs and only 134 yards. The Bobcats offense leaned heavily on their ground game with 55 of their 74 offensive snaps coming in the rushing game. Buffalo only held the ball for 23:21 running just 53 plays in the process Northern Illinois @ Ball St It’s hard to win football games when you turn the ball over 5 times as Ball St found out in their loss to Northern Illinois. NIU finished with 11 more minutes of possession than the Cardinals. NIU used a muffed kickoff to go 18 yards early in the game for a TD and a late interception to put the game away in the 4th quarter. Clemson @ Wake Forest Wake Forest’s offense continues to be offensive. The Deacons picked up a whopping 119 yards in their losing effort last Thursday. Clemson held Wake to 7 yards rushing on 34 attempts. Wake actually led the game 7-0 and 14-10 early but couldn’t muster a sustained attack to pull off the upset as 3 TD dogs. Utah St @ Wyoming Utah St had 2 big plays in the first quarter; an 80 yard punt return and 66 yard touchdown run that proved enough to hold off the home bound Cowboys. USU scored...

EPL ROUND Ball
posted by Todd
Thankfully for a handful of EPL teams domestic play resumes again in earnest after performances in the Champions League that can only be described as abominations. As he does every Friday throughout the fall, James Kempton is here to provide quick gambling capsules of every fixture this weekend. Follow him on twitter and listen to his podcast Liverpool v Chelsea Liverpool will be hoping that the extra rest they gave their star players in Madrid on Tuesday night helps them here. It’ll be needed against a Chelsea side who are unbeaten in the last four meetings of the sides and have scored in six straight meets. Both teams have scored in five of those last six EPL match ups but I can’t trust the home team to find the net. Anfield is always a difficult place for the away side in these prestigious matches; under 2.5 goals is the play for me. Burnley v Hull City A game which offers very little interest from either a viewing or betting perspective. A little bit of value on the home side would be my suggestion here with Burnley however it’s a brave man who goes to the counter to back either the home side or the overs on the goal line. Manchester United v Crystal Palace A 2-0 United double last season…and I watched this particular match up in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at 445am local time. Following the concession by Palace of three goals to Sunderland on Monday night, give me United on the match handicap line. This is the sort of game where United could rack up the goals to try and erase supporters’ memories of their other horrific displays this campaign. It obviously won’t but they can...

It’s Time

Lights. Camera. #MACtion. We were teased with a couple weeks of Tuesday night Sun Belt (or Fun Belt if you happened to be a ULL Ragin’Cajun’backer) but the real degenerate Holy Grail returns this week. The week day MAC games started with four games over Tuesday and Wednesday night this week. I imagine this is what it’s like when somebody going through withdrawals finally gets their fix. But as hardened #MACtion vets know, betting these weekday tilts are not for the faint of heart. Throw out everything you’ve ever learned betting on college football over the years, none of those rules apply. Luckily for you guys I’m here to provide you with everything you need to know about betting weekday MAC games. Written by Ted McNamara (Note: While I hold these #MACtion truths to be self evident, you may want to take this guide with a grain of salt when doing your research for these games). There will be weather. It must be something about the way the winds swirl off of Lake Erie into MAC country this time of year but for some reason it seems like every MAC game is played in some sort of less than desirable weather condition. It may be raining, it may be snowing, it may be freezing or incredibly windy. Never, EVER assume a weekday MAC game will be played in good conditions. Normally most people would tend to take the under if bad weather is in play, the problem is that’s not the way #MACtion works. Last year o/u’s were 6-6 in weekday MAC games regardless of mother nature. There will be missed extra points and field goals. No kick is guaranteed in these games. It doesn’t matter if it’s an extra point or a 30...

Reviewing boxscores are an important part of handicapping. Final scores tell one story while stats, turnovers, and non-offensive scores often tell a very different tale. Here are quick game capsules of what stood out to me reviewing the weekend’s results. Note every game is not included if the box score and final told similar stories. Florida St @ Louisville Florida St spotted Louisville a 21-0 lead before outscoring the Cardinals 42-10 over the final 30:33. The Seminoles racked up 574 yards of offense against the nation’s #1 defense, a unit that was surrendering less than 300 yards per game coming into Thursday. Troy @ Georgia Southern Georgia Southern continued their ground assault on FBS opponents, this time racking up 421 of the pedestrian variety against Troy. GSU outgained Troy 461-154 and out first downed the Trojans 28-9 in their 42-10 obliteration. Cincinnati @ Tulane Cincinnati was -2 in the turnover department, compiling the same amount of first downs as Tulane in a game that wasn’t close. The Bearcats built a 24-0 halftime lead before the Green Wave trimmed the deficit to 24-14 mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Munchie Legeaux came off the bench to relieve Gunner Kiel (0-1, 1 INT) going 16-24 for 211 yards. Tommy Tuberville’s team finished the game with 265 yards rushing (Moore 15-124 and Boone 15-113). Tulsa @ Memphis Memphis spotted Tulsa a 14-3 early in the 2nd quarter. That was when the Tigers came to life, scoring 37 of the games next 43 points. Memphis only had a +15 differential in total yardage but found much more balance than Tulsa. Air Force @ Army Army picked up 8 first downs in getting dusted by their service academy rival Air Force 23-6. The Falcons ran 74 plays on offense compared...
