EPL Round 34

The race for league supremacy might be over but that doesn’t mean there’s not an opportunity to make some money this weekend in the EPL. James Kempton is back with his weekly installment of betting capsules on every fixture. If you’re looking for more in-depth analysis tune into his podcast with Pete Nordsted.

Burnley v Leicester Scratch
Pk & 2.5 goals

Leicester looked dead and buried a few weeks ago but recent results for both sides force this game priced at scratch. This is a big game for the home team and nobody rolls them over at Turf Moor so at this current price I favour Burnley.

Crystal Palace v Hull City
Palace -0.5 and 2 goals

Palace lost to a relegation threatened side last time out at home in West Brom so why not again here? Away win straight up is the way I’d play this but for minimal stakes in a game you should probably pass on.

Manchester City v Aston Villa
City -1.75 and 3 goals

City dominated West Ham last week but still only won 2-0. Here they welcome a rejuvenated Villa side with a genuine attacking threat. The away side will more than likely find the back of the net given a shakier than usual home defence so I lean towards over on the goal line.

Newcastle United v Swansea City
Newcastle -0.25 and 2.25 goals

The heat is on at St James’ Park and if Newcastle can’t win this game then they are in real trouble. Swansea let us down last week at Leicester so it’s a brave man who trusts them in this spot. A draw is agreeable for both sides so I will take that and lean to the unders.

QPR v West Ham United
QPR -0.25 and 2.5 goals

Rangers have a chance to stay up whilst West Ham look like a team who have given up on their season. Maybe a passionate London derby is just the tonic they need to create a reaction from the Hammers players. The home win does look the side to be with and on this line looks to offer some risk/reward return.

Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur
Southampton -0.5 and 2.25 goals

Pochettino returns to St Mary’s and should be given a warm welcome by the home support. Both sides seem to be waning as I’m not sure Spurs’ win at Newcastle last weekend can be called a revival. Laying half a goal against a top eight side does not appeal so with this goal line set at just 2.25 I will take some of the over.

Stoke City v Sunderland
Stoke -0.5 and 2.25 goals

Stoke continue to string impressive results together and only a look ahead to the summer beaches will see an away win for a poor Sunderland side in this game. I trust Mark Hughes to avoid that from happening.

West Bromwich Albion v Liverpool
Liverpool -0.5 and 2.5 goals

The pressure is being heaped upon Brendan Rodgers and the last place you want to travel to in that situation is a Tony Pulis managed team. West Brom are now safe though and last time out at home they lost to Leicester. At these market prices, this looks like a minefield to bet on.

Everton v Manchester United
United -0.25 and 2.5 goals

Everton have stabilised of late and historically they have always been a tough team for the elite teams to take all three points from when playing at home. United dominated proceedings at Chelsea last time out but were outdone by the genius of Mourinho. I trust United and their knack of grinding out results to get the job done.

Arsenal v Chelsea
Arsenal -0.25 and 2.25 goals

Anytime I can get Chelsea receiving a start there will have to be many factors working against them to dissuade me from siding with them. There is not enough here to make me back Arsenal and this could be a real bore of a game. Chelsea will break the game up and throw Arsenal off their free flowing style of play so give me the away team and unders.
