EPL Round 25
The only thing better than a full slate of weekend fixtures in the EPL is when there are mid week matches to bet as well. Resident EPL insider James Kempton worked double duty this week providing his thoughts as he always does on every single match
Arsenal v Leicester City
Arsenal -1.75 and 3 goals
The home side need to bounce back after the weekend derby defeat and their is no better team to host than City to get you healthy. Arsenal will win this game against Leicester who appear to be in disarray with or without the current manager confusion and the value is with the Gunners covering the handicap line.
Hull City v Aston Villa
Hull City -0.25 and 2 goals
Both teams managed to score against an elite team over the weekend so surely they should at least give us a push on the overs of goal line of 2? You’d think so but I can’t trust either team so I’m staying away completely!
Sunderland v QPR
Sunderland -0.5 and 2.25 goals
Sunderland gained a great point on the road this past weekend against Swansea. Rangers showed great fight against Southampton before losing in stoppage time. That showing alone makes me want to side with QPR to get a point but with their away record I simply can’t. The loss of Charlie Austin for QPR also stops me from considering an Overs ticket
Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur
Liverpool -0.5 and 2.75 goals
Over 2.75 goals for this Liverpool side? No thanks! The under looks a strong play here and I have to be with the away team to gain at least a share of the spoils. Once Daniel Sturridge is fully fit my thoughts for Pool may change but whilst he remains a non starter I will fade Pool and their goal tally.
Chelsea v Everton
Chelsea -1.5 and 2.75 goals
Everton are not the force they once were but I can’t back Chelsea giving up this start on the handicap line without Diego Costa up front. The lack of potency in the visitors’ line up also makes me lean towards the Unders on the goal line.
Manchester United v Burnley
Manchester Unite -1.75 and 2.75 goals
United at home are a different animal but I sense this Burnley team will have a real go in this game. They have already shown the propensity to score against the big teams. I like the over 2.75 goals here as I see a half win as the worst case scenario if we see 3 goals.
Southampton v West Ham United
Southampton -0.75 and 2.5 goals
There is no way that the Saints should be a three quarter goal favourite here. Yes they may win but West Ham rarely get blown away. I love the disciplined and mentally strong away team here to get something from the game, building on the momentum from their weekend draw against United.
Stoke City v Manchester City
Manchester City -0.75 and 2.5 goals
City look a little bit lost at present so I can’t back them in this spot. The over 2.5 goals does appeal to me as I sense Stoke will cause the away backline some issues. Stoke don’t look as assured defensively so the Yes on BTTS also makes a lot of sense.
Crystal Palace v Newcastle United
Crystal Palace -0.25 and 2.25 goals
The revenge of Alan Pardew! I’ve opposed Newcastle two weeks in a row and they have done me in on both occasions so I won’t be going against them here. I lean towards the under 2.25 goals in a match I don’t have any real thoughts in.
West Bromwich Albion v Swansea City
WBA -0.25 and 2.25 goals
The Swans won at Southampton last time on their travels so a trip to the Hawthornes will not daunt them much. The home team have picked up under Pulis but I’m happy to oppose them in this spot. Patterns of Swansea offensive output away from home are tough to gauge so I’m keeping away from the goal markets.
