UFC 192
Good day fight Enthusiasts. Today’s UFC card offers a smorgasbord of fight delights. Ladies in two different divisions will duke it out, a couple of hammering Heavyweight’s will throw down, four furious flyweight’s will fracas and a couple veteran light heavy’s will look to lower each other’s lights. Here’s what we’ve come up with in tonight’s hunt for hounds from Houston.

-Let’s Fight-
Pettis -195 vs. Cariaso +165
It’s going to take more than one’s last name to beat the veteran Cariaso. Cariaso’s last two fights against DJ and Henry Cedujo provide him the hunger and solidify his resume to be considered at least on par with the younger, longer Pettis who is stepping way up in competition tonight. We’ll have to see Sergio beat a real MMA fighter before we automatically buy into the hype.
Cariaso + 165 (half)
Tumenov -270 vs. Jouban +225
Tumenov is an accomplished, well rounded MMA fighter. He will have decent advantage if he can keep this a standing fight. Tumenov’s precision striking, cardio and power are the reasons he is favored in this spot. Jouban though the older fighter will arrive to the Octagon the much taller, larger, thicker fighter tonight. Jouban is taking a step up in class and competition with this fight but we feel his size and power may test the Russian especially early. Jouban’s chin/cardio/defense will be big issues as this fight wears on and Tumenov’s ability to weather a furious first round flurry provides intrigue in this fight. We trust that Jouban has addressed his conditioning for this brawl and he’ll surely benefit if he can get this fight to the floor and maul the cardio out of the Russian. If he can control the smaller man and use his size advantage here he may be a howling hound in Houston tonight.
Jouban +225 (half)
Benavidez -335 vs. Bagautinov +275
Benavidez is a true icon in this Flyweight division yet we have reservations about him being such a huge chalk against a fighter that in many ways is a reflection of him. Joe’s a southpaw, a busy fighter and should sport a slight edge in the wrestling department. That said, his opponent Bagautinov offers his own resume which includes explosive punching power, speed and wresting ability himself. Benavidez’s last couple wins have been decisions which lead us to believe that his slow decline is in effect. Our belief is that this energetic Russian has everything it takes to upset Joe tonight in what is sure to be a most entertaining bout.
Bagautinov +275 (half)
Pena -230 vs. Eye +210
We’ve pulled profuse profit from Pena’s past poundings as we believe in her ability and pugilistic prowess yet there comes a time to employ reason and logic over expectation when handicapping fights. Pena is a busy aggressive fighter who will do everything in her power to get this fight to the floor. Jessica Eye, a superior striker off a loss to the best female fighter in the Woman’s Bantamweight Division not named Rousey is a most dangerous opponent for Pena. While Eye gives away ability on the mat to Pena the reverse is also true…..Pena will be outmatched in a standing striking affair against Eye. “Styles make Fights” and if this one is a maul on the matt it will be Pena who gets her hand raised but if Eye can keep this standing then advantage is hers. Eye opened +140 which was a fair indication of the odds for this fight but at +210 we will gladly take the value here and coddle with the canine….
Eye +200
Cormier -270 vs. Gustafsson +225
A close fight with Jon Jones is the best Gus can offer us as far as his resume is concerned here. Anthony Johnson destroyed Gus in his own backyard last fight out and his victory over statuesque Jimmy Manuwa did nothing but make Gus feel he really is a top contender in this division. We believe otherwise. Gus has size, length and age angles in this fight but the thing he does not have is fighters confidence. In this fight Gus will do all he can to stick-n-jab to try to keep Cormier on the outside and pick at him with kicks and licks. While this appears to be a sound strategy we can’t feel it will be effective for more than a minute. Cormier should not be judged by his physique fella’s for he is a complete badass. It took Bones’ best to beat DC last January in a five round thriller. We feel Cormier will smother the taller longer Swede and make this a grimy, ugly fight on the floor or against the cage….further we can’t feel it will take long for Alex to realize that DC is the real dad gummed deal. This is a move we made last night and published via Twitter +160. Today the offering has compressed….
Cormier ITD (Inside the Distance) +146
