EPL Round 6

European competition throughout the week gave us a healthy appetizer for the real main course; EPL Round 6.  Fortunately Premier League sides have to fair better playing one another they did on the bigger stage.  Only Chelsea put together a performance to be proud of dispatching Maccabi Tel Aviv rather easily for Jose.  James Kempton is back with his fixture report sharing all the pertinent details on the weekend’s biggest matches.

Chelsea v Arsenal
PK and 2.75 goals
The Community Shield win for Arsenal ended their barren run against the Blues and Mourinho but this is a different encounter. Arsenal have not scored in the last four EPL meetings of the sides or won any of the last seven meetings. Even given the Blues’ crisis, on this Pk line, it’s Chelsea or pass for me.

Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion
Aston Villa -0.25 and 2.25 goals
The away side has not won any of the last seven EPL meetings of the sides and just one of the last eleven games. Over 2.5 goals has gone 9-3 in the last twelve EPL match ups since September 2008. With the goal line set at just 2.25 I love the over rather than trying to figure out a tricky looking match line.

AFC Bournemouth v Sunderland
AFC -0.75 and 2.5 goals
This line proves that the world has officially gone mad! Sunderland did not play badly last weekend as they lost late at home to Spurs whilst Bournemouth lost comprehensively away to Norwich. I cannot understand how the books have come up with this market line, it’s baffling! Give me Sunderland +0.75 all day long.

Newcastle United v Watford
Newcastle -0.25 and 2.25 goals
The pressure is building at St James’ Park and when will the fans turn against Coach McLaren? I lean to the under as I expect the away side, who have been strong defensively, will set up to build the frustration of the Geordie fans. At some point Newcastle will sneak a win at home but I won’t be backing it to be this week!

Stoke City v Leicester City
Stoke City -0.25 and 2.5 goals
Both meetings of the sides last season ended in 1-0 away wins and the form of the Foxes so far this season suggests they could repeat that feat here. I’m calling Leicester wrong every week so am staying away from this game completely.

Swansea City v Everton
Swansea City -0.25 and 2.5 goals
Swansea are yet to win a meeting of the two teams in the Premiership as Everton have won five and there have been three draws in the eight EPL meetings. Coming off of that amazing home win over Chelsea I will side with the trends here and grab that quarter goal with the Toffees.

Manchester City v West Ham United
Manchester City -1.75 and 3.25 goals
City have won every game so far this season to nil but all have gone under 3.5 goals. After that midweek European action do not expect them to put the foot down once ahead here. Give me a small piece of the unders on the goal line here.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace
Tottenham -0.5 and 2.5 goals
I can’t trust Spurs minus a half but it doesn’t mean I’m rushing to the window to back Palace. Over 2.5 goals for me in a game which I expect to be high octane, entertaining and ultimately full of goals.

Liverpool v Norwich City
Liverpool -1 and 2.5 goals
Can you trust this Liverpool side laying a goal? No me neither and Norwich could be considered a very live money line dog in this game.  It could be a long nervous afternoon at Anfield here as the pressure is building up on Coach Rodgers.

Southampton v Manchester United
Manchester United -0.25 and 2.25 goals
BTTS has hit in all of the last three meetings of the sides at St James with over 2.5 goals going 2-1. In fact Yes on BTTS is 5-1 since January 2013 when the sides meet in EPL action. In view of those goal trends I will have a little piece of the over 2.25 line please.
